  15. Hi!

I hold an Indian passport and I am on Thailand since 1st October. My visa runs out on 28th November, but I haven’t completed my training here. I would need another 30 days visa extension. Where should I go to to extend my visa? I’m in a mess right now!

    1. Based on your passport, you can only extend your visa for another 7 days. If you need to stay longer than that, you will need to leave Thailand and apply for a visa on arrival for 15 days.

  16. Hello,

I am currently in Thailand on a 30 day tourist Visa but would like to extend. Would I need to do a “border run” or can I extend at my local immigration office (Surat Thani).

Also, if I were to extend, would I be able to do by 7 days or is the 30 day extension (1900 BHT) the only option?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. You may apply for an extension at your local immigration office. The duration of extension will depend on your passport. Regardless of how long the extension is for, you will pay 1,900 THB.

  17. Hi, I’m travelling to Thailand for 10 days, 3 days in Cambodia, and then other 4 days in Thailand. What is better in terms of costs and procedure?
    1) pay the multiple entry visa
    2) get the single entry visa and then on the Bangkok Don Mueang airport get an extension for 30 days?

How long this procedure takes? As I will be only 2.5 hours of waiting between flights. Thank you so much!

    1. You may apply for a single entry tourist visa before traveling to Thailand. Then before you leave for Cambodia, you must apply for a re-entry permit so that you can use the same visa on your next entry to Thailand without this being cancelled.

The single re-entry permit is 1,000THB. The visa fee for the single entry tourist visa will depend on the Thai embassy or consulate where you apply.

  18. As a German I got a free 30-day entry visa when I went to Bangkok at the 22nd of October for a (4-day) weekend trip. On the visa stamp it says that it is only valid until the 20th of November. Now, I’m planning to go back to Thailand until the end of November.

As I left the country in the meantime, does it mean that my visa is still valid until then (as I won’t have spent 30 days in Thailand by the 20th of November)? Or do I have to apply for a visa extension?

    Thanks.

    1. If you did not obtain a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand, your 30-day entry stamp has already been cancelled. In this case, you will receive another 30-day stamp upon arrival.

  19. We are two adults and six kids (Aged 4-15). We are going to stay in Bangkok for three days. Then we fly to Siem Rep and stay there for a week. Then, we go by bus back to Thailand and stay there for 17 days. Which visa should we get and is there anything we should be aware of?

    1. You may apply for the 60-day tourist visa from the Thai embassy or consulate in your current location. Before leaving for Siem Reap, you need to apply for a re-entry permit so that your 60-day tourist visa will not be cancelled once you exit.

  20. My 60-day tourist visa is about to expire in two days and I’ve already gotten my 30 day extension. However, my flight from Bangkok back to the USA isn’t for another 9 days. How can I avoid that seven day overstay period? Is my only option to do a border run and get a 15-day stamp?

    1. To avoid the overstay fine, you need to leave Thailand before your current visa expires and re-enter. If you hold a US passport, you will receive a 30-day stamp at the border.

  21. 1. I’m holding UK passport and plan to travel Thailand. As UK passport will get 30 days allow in Thailand. Can I pay 1,900 baht for extend 30 days after the first 30 days gone?

    2. As I know I only allowed to stay maximum of 90 days out of 6 months. If I stay 89 days, can I still get 30 days stamp after I exit Thailand? And how long do I need to away Thailand if I want another 30 days? Please advise.

    1. Yes, you may apply for a 30-day extension any time before your 30-day entry stamp expires. If you want to get another 30-day stamp after your initial entry, you can take a day trip out of Thailand and come in on the same day to receive another 30 days.

There is no longer a limit on the number of days that you can stay within a 6-month period. As long as you have the appropriate visa or stamp, you can stay in Thailand. However, visa-free entry available to certain nationalities like yourself may be limited depending on the discretion of the immigration officer. In some cases, an officer may turn you away if you have had 4 consecutive 30-day visa-free entries to Thailand.

    2. Refer to what you mentioned. I can get another 30 days stamp by leaving Thailand then come back. Let say if I leave Thailand for few days or a week (*not return on same day) will it also count as consecutive 30 days?

    3. Regardless of how long you will be out of Thailand, you will receive a 30-day stamp from the day you enter Thailand.

  22. Hello,

I’m currently in Thailand on a 60-day tourist visa (active Sept 24th through November 22nd) and would like to get a 30-day extension. Does the thirty day extension begin the date I visit Krabi immigration? Or does it add thirty days on the 22nd, the day my visa was scheduled to expire? Also, what holidays are observed by the immigration center in mid-November? Thanks!

    1. The 30-day extension will be added on top of the 60-day tourist visa that you currently hold. For the month of November, there are no holidays according to the calendar issued by the Thai government.

  23. Hello

I’m Swiss and on the 2 months visa. If I go to Cambodia and come back to Thailand by land border, I probably will get a 15-day visa. Can I extend that one? If I extend the 2 months visa by another 30 days and after that I go to Cambodia, can I still re-enter Thailand or is there a maximum stay of 90 days within a certain period?

    Thanks for your informations!
    Best Regards

    1. The 15-day entry stamp can be extended for another 7 days.

However, if you would like to maximize your current 2-month visa, you may apply for a 30-day extension and a re-entry permit at the immigration office in Thailand where you are currently located before leaving for Cambodia.

  24. Hi,
I have a flight to Malaysia from Thailand on the 12th of November. However, my visa runs out on the 11th. I’m just wondering what’s the best option for me, to extend my visa or pay for the one day overstay.

    1. It is best to avoid having a record of overstay. However, it is up to you whether you wish to apply for an extension or not.
