  1. Hi I’m a Botswana national and I’m currently on a tourist visa I have already done a 30 day extension, I would like to extend my days again is this possible? I’ve read that you need to cross the border and renter however I’ve also been told that they will not allow this to happen based on the fact that we are Botswana nationals and that the if we wish to re enter we need to make an application in our home country is this true? Please advice me on what to do?

    Many thanks

  2. Hi, I booked a visa run bus tonight to Penang and they let me down – told me this afternoon that I didn’t have a seat on the bus. My tourist visa has been extended at an immigration office for the 30 days and this expires on 17th. The next visa bus is on Sunday and I’ll get there on the 18th – an overstay. I definately don’t want this and wonder if I can get an extension, on my extension, for 7 days at my local immigration office and leave for Penang then?

    1. You may inquire from the local immigration office if they will allow you an additional extension, otherwise you will have to exit Thailand before your visa expires to avoid the overstay fee.

  8. Hello. I Czech republic citizen and I arrived to Thailand via plane and got my 30 day visa. I left country and wont return in the 30day period. But my plan was to come back to Thailand after my 30 day visa expires to get my flight from Bangkok. I planned to cross land International border from Myanmar via on of these checkpoints, Tachileik-Meisai, Myawaddy-Mesauk, Kauthaung-Yannnaung, Hteke-Phunaron. Will it be any trouble to get the 15day visa on the land border when I can show my return ticket back to Europe from Bangkok. Or should I proceed differently to get another visa for entry to Thailand to catch my flight.

    1. If you are able to satisfy the requirements for visa exemption, then you may enter without a visa for 15 days through a land border. Just make sure you show your ticket flying out of Thailand as well as proof of your accommodation for the period of your stay.

  13. Hi!
This is Varsha Tripathi again. I had just enquired about extending the visa for another 15-20 days. You comment has not been posted as yet. I also wanted another piece of information. I have just come in yesterday, and I have a valid visa for 15 days. How soon can I go to the immigration office to get an extension? Is it possible to go today itself? This would help because I will be busy for next few days in the academic course. Thanks

    1. You can only apply for a 7-day visa extension at an immigration office in Thailand within a week before your visa on arrival expires. Since you plan to stay until July 18, you may need to exit the country and apply for another visa on arrival once you re-enter.

  18. My triple entry tourist visa expires on June 19, I have already done my final extension. Is it possible to extend further or can I leave the country and fly back in for visa on arrival? The reason I want an extension is I’m waiting for a job to start overseas and as yet I don’t have an outward bound flight. They will book last minute. Maybe this will be the problem in obtaining a visa on arrival. No outward bound flight as yet

    1. Once you have processed your final extension, you can no longer extend this further. An option for you is to apply for another tourist visa from a neighboring country or enter on visa exemption depending on your passport.

  20. Hello!
My name is Leulseged Assefa. I’m a teacher at the International Community School of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I will be traveling to Bangkok to study for my teaching certificate program offered by Teachers College of North Carolina; in Bangkok at NIST international school. This summer, the program takes place from June 12- July 16, 2016 (33 days). I was told that I could apply for Visa on arrival; but now I’m finding out that I can get visa only for 15 days (on arrival).
    My questions are:
    1) Is it possible to enter the country by applying for 15 days and get extension for 18 more days after; without having to fly out of Bangkok?
    2) Can I apply for 33 days (Non-Immigrant Visa) on arrival?
    3) If the above two options are not possible; can I apply online through your the nearest embassy, which is Nairobi, Kenya?
    4) What other options do I have?

    Thank you for you help

    1. We would recommend that you contact the Thai embassy in Nairobi as there is no option to apply for a 33 day visa on arrival. They would be able to provide you the best visa option based on the purpose of your travel.

Normally, applications can only be done in person or through mail depending on the Thai embassy where you apply. Please also contact them as well to inquire if it is possible for you to apply online.
