  7. My 16 year old son has been dependent (independent visa) on my visa since he came here in the Kingdom last May 2009, and he’s a student here for seven years with that kind of visa. And I am planning to change his visa from Non-O to Non-ED. Does he need to go out of the country to get Non-ED or just change the type of visa here, or just continue his present visa? I have a complete documents for Non-O for him but the immigration here doesn’t want to continue. Do you have aged limit for children to be able to get Non-O?

I am a Filipino and my colleague is a Cameroonian, he change his daughter’s visa from Non-O to Non-ED without going out of the Kingdom. But when I want to change my son’s visa Non-O to Non-ED they (immigration officer) asked my son to go out of the kingdom, I don’t understand the difference, because I am an Asian and he is an African?…

    1. The approval of the change in visa type will depend on the discretion of the immigration officer and the specific circumstances of the applicant. We would not be able to confirm the basis of the officer in refusing your application over your colleague’s application. If the officer advises you that they cannot change your son’s visa type while he is in the country, then you will have to comply with their advice.
